Welcome To My Madness

mom says

Website Mayhem
I am a pretty technically skilled person.  I am good at learning new things on my own.  I comprehend quite well.  However, this WordPress loop, PHP, HTML, CSS combination is driving me mad.  Not just a little crazy but freaking mad!

I spent the day yesterday working on redesigning the home page for the website.  I have the design all done out by hand but getting the coding right is another story.  You have to widgetize this and widgetize that and make sure things are in and out of the loop.  One tiny space, a literal space, in the wrong place and the whole thing spits out garbage and error messages.

Luckily, none of you have to see that garbage because I doing all this work on another site.  Well, most of you don’t have to see it.  There was about half an hour when I thought I had things going in the right direction and put it on the main site.  I didn’t and it broke and even my hosting company sent me an email, something about using alot of resources and giving me a link to WP for beginners {insert eye roll}.

I am not an idiot but I sure feel like one.  It is common sense and logic and I have plenty of both of those at least when it comes to coding.  I am going to try again today and hopefully will do a better job than I did yesterday.  Oh I did fix a problem that has been plaguing me from the beginning.  The ads banners were askew and nothing I did fixed them but I finally figured out the problem.  If you are a little OCD like me then it would have bothered you to but it is fixed now.

Kids
One or more of the kids have been sick for the past two weeks.  First it was a stomach virus that they got back to back from each other.  Then my son went to his homecoming dance and the next day was complaining of a bad sore throat.  I feared Mono but it wasn’t that thankfully.  He looked at me like I was insane when I asked if whoever he was kissing had a sore throat too.  He is 16 and was at a homecoming dance what was I suppose to think.

My youngest got his the worst.  He got the stomach virus last out of the four and then just as he recovered, he got the sore throat ailment from the oldest one.  Poor kid he has had a miserable 5 days and he is still feeling it today.  He has been quarantined in his room so I could stop the further spreading of anymore sickness in the house.

My darling 13 year old disrupted yet another class yesterday so I had to spend an hour up at the school.  He said he had too much energy and couldn’t help it.  We did work out a solution to the educational side of his issues.  He is going to spend his 2nd period class with his 1st period teacher so he can get his work done and caught up.  He is dropping his 6th period class altogether and going to take a virtual version of the class at school.  This will enable him to bring up grades and hopefully pass.  He starts taking the Strattera next week so will see if that has any effect.  I still hate the idea of medicating him but he has to get an education.

My 11 year old lost yet another tooth, this is his third in the past couple of months.  Before long he won’t have any teeth left at this rate.  He started middle school this year and made the transition so well.  The kids who were bullying him last year aren’t in his honors classes so thankfully he doesn’t have to see or put up with them.

My 16 year old – well he is lucky to be alive.  When he turned 13, I feared the teenager attitude and the mom knows nothing attitude would appear but it didn’t.  He turned 16 at the end of August and I am not sure he will make it to 17.  He isn’t a bad kid but the attitude and eye rolling have arrived and make me want to kill him at times.  So far I know of him sneaking out at least twice, drinking alcohol a few times (he didn’t get it from me) and sex.  I don’t have the full rundown on the sex issue but lets just say that crazy look he gave me when I asked him about kissing was laughable based on what I do know.

Mom
I am doing nothing but working at the moment.  Working on the website that is, well I don’t think it is called work if you don’t actually get paid.  I get all this advice from other people who run blogs and websites and it is great that they are willing to share their experience and knowledge but they are driving me a little crazy.  It has escalated from advice to telling me what to do.  When I don’t listen to them and I often don’t some are not very nice.  This subject is really a post in itself so I will stop here.

I did manage to get a ticket yesterday on the way home from the school, so I am accomplishing something.  An undercover police officer was watching for people passing in a no passing zone and he saw me allegedly not come to a complete stop at a stop sign.  He says I didn’t stop, I say I did.  He is the cop though so what he believes occurred is what goes on the ticket.  I would fight it in court but even if I win the court cost outweigh the cost of the ticket.  In Osceola county it is $166.00 for running a stop sign…ugh.

The kids are gone this weekend except for the oldest one.  He has a date that is not a date on Saturday and then Halloween Horror nights on Sunday so he is staying here.  There goes my weekend of solitude.  Yes, I enjoy when my kids are gone.  I know some parents get lonely and upset but I revel in it.  I love my kids but after two weeks I want a break and I don’t feel an ounce of guilt about that either.

Halloween is coming up in two weeks so I have to start figuring out the costumes and where we are going to trick or treat at.  The kids aren’t so keen on our neighborhood and would rather do it in my parents neighborhood.  The only problem is if I take them to my parents neighborhood then no one is home here to hand out candy to the kids that live in my neighborhood.  It may be a good thing though because I always buy too much candy and end up eating it after Halloween is over.

Ok well I need to get back to the madness of redesigning the home page.  I have put it off long enough now.  I haven’t even checked the news because I know if I do there will be something there that I “have” to write about further delaying what I really want to get done.

Oh and for all of you who find my grammar terrible and my use of commas both lacking and excessive, I am working on that too.  English I am fine at, grammar usage, well you have read my post, I think you already know (was that too many commas?).

sore throat is not a lot of fun its just uncomfortable and difficult to swallow.

usually, i would take the Nim Jiom Cough Syrup (www.geocities.jp/ninjiom_hong_kong/index_e.htm ) which has a thick consistency formulation. it coats the throat and includes herbs that are particularly good for that application.

i hope it works on you as well.
