On a Mission to Lose Some Weight

mom says

I am about to start a plan to shed about 35 pounds in 2 months.  I know this is very possible and easily obtained (haha nothing really easy about weight loss is there) because I have done it before.  Throughout the years I have been overweight and underweight.  I was blessed, fortunately, with a pretty equal distribution of my weight though so even when I was at my highest weight (right now!!!) I still maintained a good shape and appearance.  Not all people are as fortunate.  Being that is how my body responds to the extra weight, looking in the mirror is not always a motivator for me to lose weight.

Lately, I have not been sleeping well, my appetite has diminished, my balance has been horrible, my moods have been shifty, I am getting ill constantly and worst of all, for me, my clothes aren’t fitting.  I know that my extra weight contributes to all of these problems.  When I am at a lower more appropriate weight I don’t have the same problems, it is an easy correlation to make.

While on a trip to England back in late February of this year, I fell just walking and sprained my wrist and busted up my knees and scratched my forehead.  I ended up in the hospital and missed my flight home making things a nightmare and more recently my ankle gave out on me and I seriously sprained it and deeply scraped my knee.  Both of those things were directly related to my extra weight.  My frame is not built to carry around the extra weight and therefore my bones and every day bodily function are compensating as best they can for that weight.  This has thrown my balance off, hence the falling down.  You wouldn’t think that it was related but it is directly related.

Regardless of how your weight is distributed, being overweight is unhealthy.  It is doesn’t just effect your bodily appearance, it effects your self-esteem, your energy levels, your mental state and your bodily functions.  Being overweight can lead to significant health problems ranging form diabetes to stress fractures in your bones.

I am not a weight loss guru nor a diet and exercise fanatic and I never will be.  I have had weight issues all my life though and I have tried many, way too many diets and tricks to lose weight.  It wasn’t until a year and half ago I finally found what works best for me.  I shared this with some friends and they found that it worked for them as well.

It took me years and a lot of fad diets to finally realize what I needed to do and what worked for me.  Now I know and I can in a few months drop 30 to 40 pounds safely and effectively and without depriving myself of the things I love, namely food and good fried, rich, saucy, meaty and really yummy food.

I want to say that no one can tell you what will work for you or guarantee you sucess when it comes to weight loss.  Everyone is different and their bodies process weight differently and although the basic bodily functions are the same they don’t all operate at the same level of efficiency.  So I am not arrogant enough to say this is it, that this is the way you need to do it to lose weight.  I know it works for me and it works for several other people I know, so I am confident enough to say that my way can work and it can possibly even work for you but how quickly I don’t know.

So I am going to start my weight loss journey and in 2 months I will lose the approximately 35 pounds I want to lose.  I will take you along on my journey so if you want to learn some ways to lose weight for yourself you can give it a try.  You have probably tried tons of other diets and if you are still looking then you haven’t found one that worked so what is the harm in trying one more.  I am extremely lazy when it comes to weight loss and I have the will power of a gnat so I can’t guarantee any weight loss program will work you but I can guarantee you what I do is not difficult.

I urge anyone who is going to lose more than 5-10 pounds to get a physical first.  The results of your physical alone can help you lose weight.  I will discuss that more in a later article but for your own healthy and safety always make sure you clear it with a doctor if you plan on losing more than 5-10 pounds.  If you do the math you will see that I will be losing roughly around 4 pounds a week so not an unhealthy amount but even I got a physical.

I am going to, against my better judgment, include some photos of my weight loss journey.  Weight loss is a huge issue for men and women and being over weight has many consequences so if my weight loss journey can help others to lose weight then the yucky photos of me will be worth it. I apologize in advance if your eyes burn a little when you look at them in the beginning 😉

Check back as I hope to have all the main weight loss articles posted by the end of the day.  I will be starting it all on Friday and will post my facts and figures and the evil before pictures.
