Last week I commented that I had gained some weight and it was time to shed those extra pounds. I actually gained a few more pounds since then which was not the goal. I have settled on 135 pounds as my goal weight so I need to lose 35 pounds. I have set my birthday (9 weeks) as my deadline to lose these 35 pounds so I need to lose a little less than 4 pounds a week; not an unrealistic goal but not an easy one either. Once I set my goal I then went about doing the math to figure out how many calories of food I needed to cut out and/or calories I needed to burn off through exercise over the next 9 weeks.
You can see all the boring math under the dieting section. But basically, I need to eat at least 1414 calories a day just to maintain my normal body functions (breathing, organs, digestion and so on) running at 100%. If I go below 1414 then my entire body won’t be running at 100% therefore slowing down any weight loss. Check out the diet articles for more of an explanation of this.
I am not a big exercise person because I just can’t ever seem to find the time so I am going to go the food route as much as possible. I love my food though so exercise is going to have to be a must. A couple of days of Wii boxing with the new man in my life will help some (I always beat him making it even more fun). I guess it is time to also get the treadmill and elliptical machine working again.
Every Monday morning I will post an update on how the weight loss is going. If all goes well, by my birthday, I will be 35 pounds lighter and going shopping for a new outfit to celebrate. Being this is the Holiday season it is going to take a bit of will power but hopefully the Holidays won’t cause too much of a problem. Here are the starting stats (fingers crossed they go down every week):
Height 5’2
Weight is 170 pounds (12.14 stones for you across the pond)
Waist 37 inches – ouch
Hips 43 inches
Chest 34 ½ inches
Just for reference my measurements before I had kids were:
Weight 99 pounds/7 stones
Waist 23 inches
Hips and chest 33
Hmmmm I think it was the kids that did it to me….couldn’t possibly be all the food and lack of exercise… well maybe a little of both.
