Stop Dieting and Start Eating!!!

I can not stress this enough.  I talked about the two processes you needed to know about in the article here.  You should now understand that you need food to produce energy.  When you deprive your body of food everything slows down.  Not just weight loss but bodily functions, processes and organs.  How are you suppose to function at peak performance if you don’t have the energy you need?

I will repeatedly tell you that starvation diets, fasting and cutting calories is not the solution.  Do you want to spend the rest of your life starving yourself, fasting or counting every calorie you eat?  You will be doing that or be fat, one or the other, if you don’t start eating.

This series is about weight loss not necessarily about healthy eating.  The two do not always have to go hand in hand.  You can eat crappy food all day long and still lose weight.  You can also eat healthy food all day long and get fat.  Being healthy is important and of course you should eat healthy foods when you can.  However, we are talking about weight loss here and trying to change your eating habits while you are trying to lose weight can cause you to fail on both fronts.

There are some diets out there that suggest you shock your body into weight loss.  Why do you want to do that to your body?  It is not healthy to ever shock your system severely unless you are under specific doctor’s orders and a doctor’s care yet there are diets out there that tell you to do it all the time.

You don’t need to jump start a weight loss plan with fasting first.  I know there are all the celebrities that insist it is the way to go and how they lost weight but pay close attention.  They usually use fasting to lose quick fluid weight before a big event or when the need to drop a few pounds to fit into a dress.  Long term they exercise, whether it is dancing on stage or working out with a personal trainer, they exercise to lose weight.

Start eating even if the foods you are eating are not healthy, it is better than not eating at all.  You will eventually work your way to eating healthier foods by default but you never have to give up the foods all the experts call “unhealthy”.  Learning moderation is all you need to do.  Understanding that the food you eat will be processed into energy and that you must use that energy or the rest will be turned into fat.

I know there are many people who will disagree and say that I am wrong.  They will insist that you must eat healthy food if you want to lose weight.  You need to eat healthy food if you want to be healthy.  You need to eat food to lose weight.  Not the same thing.  Again I am giving you the information that will help you lose weight not get you healthy, that comes second.

Stop depriving yourself because that just leads to overeating, sneaking foods and causing more fat stores.  I don’t stress the healthy foods because what happens is a person decides they want to lose weight.  They then go buy a diet book or find a diet in a magazine and decide to follow it.  They give up all the foods they love in exchange for foods they can tolerate.  The diet works for a short amount of time and then they miss eating and enjoying the foods they love and begin to resent and hate the healthy diet foods.  When that happens cheating on the diet begins and soon enough the diet is gone altogether.  You fail.

I will tell you that once you lose the weight and see that you can lose the weight people tend to find that the unhealthy foods that got them fat in the first place don’t really do the job anymore.  Now that they have lost weight and feel better about themselves and get out more and need more energy, they find that they get more from eating healthy than they do by eating a bunch of junk food.  Some people, like me, never give up the so called unhealthy food.  Could I be healthier, of course I could, but I don’t like a lot of health food and I will go without rather than eat it and then I am back to being fat again.
