About Mom

‘Mom’ is…

39 years old. Four boys, three fathers. Once married, once divorced, always lived alone until very recently. To say that Mom has always been independent is something of an understatement.

Though there have been men in Mom’s life at times, the kids always came first and this has shaped every aspect of Mom’s existence. Every single choice Mom makes has to be prefaced with the thought “how will this affect the children?“.

Mom attended, but did not finish, college studying paralegal studies. Mom is by no means wealthy but manages her finances to enable her family to live comfortably. Mom has worked off and on throughout the years. Mom found it important to not work when she was pregnant and for awhile after her children were born. Mom has worked in the fast food industry (fancy way of saying McDonald’s), modeling industry, in the legal field (real estate and family law), worked up through the ranks at a national movie theater eventually moving from running the theater to administrative assistant, and most recently Mom worked for the Federal Government as a security officer.

Mom has life experience and lots of it, but does that translate to ‘answers’? This site will allow you to draw your own conclusions.

But above all, Mom is a woman. A human being with her own insecurities and issues to deal with, while being expected to be a superhero to her children: the cook, the maid, the teacher, the nurse, the mechanic, the handyman, the financier and adviser. Provider of everything from a home to candy – Mom has more jobs in a single day than most have in a lifetime!

Goals of this site

The original idea for this website came from my own efforts to find a place online that provided me with the help, inspiration and consolation I was personally looking for to aid me in the struggles I faced in my own life.

Having spent several years online and not finding anything suitable, I discussed it with the New Man in my life and he convinced me that if I shared my own experiences and concerns that others would share theirs and we would aid each other collectively.

Specifically, what I was looking for and what this site is intended to provide is a website that provides:

Real World Advice without preaching – everything that I discuss here is REAL. My life is real, the problems I face are real and the solutions I offer I have tried – even when they didn’t always work out for me

Honesty – I believe that it sometimes helps to accept that I’m not perfect because in accepting that truth, I prove to myself that I at least want to try to be better

A genuine desire to help others – I don’t make money from all of the considerable effort I put into this site, the reward comes from the satisfaction of sharing

Prevents isolation – we’re not alone, but it’s very easy to feel like we are and it’s important that when we’re at our lowest or facing our biggest challenges that there is someone around to say “I understand, I’ve been there too, it will all be ok”

Lots of like-minded people – there are so many opinions online, many of which are excellent but I wanted to hear from REAL people and what worked for them

I’d love to hear from anyone that has any ideas that will help me achieve my goals, but in the meantime – please enjoy your stay with us! (And don’t forget to bookmark the site.)
