Well romance is still alive and well, at least in my world. All relationships take work but long distance relationships take even more work. Sometimes it is the littlest things that make all the difference in the world.
With the technology we have today in email and video chat programs like skype and msn live, long distance relationships are not what they used to be. No long distance phone bills to worry over and with video you get to actually see the person as well. Even with all that keeping the romance alive can get hard but it is still alive and can be done.
When it comes to romantic gestures we tend to see them coming on our birthday, anniversaries and Valentines Day. They are still meaningful but nothing beats a sweet romantic gesture out of the blue. Openning the mailbox and finding a simple card with a simple message of adoration is more romantic to me than a dozen roses on Valentines Day. I do have to say the card I got on Valentines Day was just as beautiful but just not the same.
I couldn’t get the whole card scanned but below is part of one of those such cards I just received. It made my entire day. It isn’t just some store bought card with a pre-written poem or saying but a simple card with a beautiful simple handwritten message.
My day was going alright but I was still tired and frustrated because I am not sleeping right. On top of that I had a sick child at home today and a mini argument with the other children who felt they should get to stay home too, first thing in the morning. I had to go to the bank and take care of bills today then to the grocery store to get a roast for dinner. When I got home there it was, a completely unexpected and loving gesture that turned my whole day around. It felt like that hug you get when you didn’t realize you needed a hug more than anything.
To all the men and women out there, take note, sometimes it is the littlest thing that can make all the difference in your loved ones world
