I am not a conspiracy theorist nor am I paranoid, I just found this absolutely funny and WTF?!?!. A few days back I wrote the post Aliens are Everywhere – According to My Son. The day I wrote that post my son decided to build a pyramid out of Styrofoam cups, which I thought was interesting in a funny way because aliens and pyramids have gone together for centuries, so I posted a picture of his little pyramid at 13:05.
Within a few minutes of posting those two post, I got a visit from Cyveillance at 13:09. Now if you check out their site they seem very innocent and just another company doing business on the web. Check out Google and you will see that is not exactly the case. What you don’t see on the company site is that they are the go to company for the U.S. Government. Our U.S. government doesn’t want to admit to spying on the little people on the web but fact is they do, they just use companies like Cyveillance.
Whether it is conspiracy or coincidence whichever you may see it as, really it is just hilarious the links the government goes to concerning aliens and pyramids, Cyveillance hides what they are actually doing. I do not believe that some employee at Cyveillance just happened to be on the internet and surf my site at work within minutes of me posting those post.
Here are the facts you decide if there is some conspiracy about aliens/pyramids or if it just coincidence.
The Cyveillance company crawled the website but they 1.) masked that they were in fact a bot crawling the site 2.) they ignored the bot file (robots.txt) and 3.)created a false referring link to the site. If you are unsure of what a bot/spider is or what a referring link is see below for an explanation, if you already know what they are skip the box and read on.
Referring Link
A referring link is basically the site that referred them to mine. For example: if you search Google for momversus.com and then click on the link that takes you to momversus.com, it shows in my log that you found my site through Google and what keywords you used. This helps me find out what interest my visitors the most and helps me provide my visitors with stuff they want and need. Very helpful for me and my visitors.
Bots/Spiders
If you have a website there are these little bots and spiders that crawl your site and index it for search engines and what not. Some of these little bots and spiders are good and some are bad. As a website owner I have a specific file that tells the little bots and spiders what they can and can’t look at on my site. It is recognized and has been for years that bots and spiders, at least the good ones, adhere to the restrictions in the file. The other things is that the little bots and spiders identify themselves as such. Ex. Google has its googlebot and when it hits the site, in my log, it shows up as googlebot.
Now if I see a little bot or spider crawling around and it ignores the file then I put it on a ban list for being bad and not playing by the rules. This protects my site and my visitors from these wayward bots and spiders. I lock up files I don’t want any bots or spiders in just as an added protection because I know there are bad bots and spiders out there. There are also scripts to trap these little bad bots and spiders if they ignore the restrictions set up for them in the file. I don’t play with them, if they can’t follow the rules I have set, then off they go.
The Cyveillance company showed a referring link from Google stating they searched the exact link to the post on the pyramid. You will also note that nowhere in their line does it show that it is a bot.
Cyveillance
C:\xxxxxxxxx\momversus.com-Jul-2010 (6 hits)
38.105.109.12 – - [02/Jul/2010:13:09:47 -0400] “GET /2010/07/02/pyramid/ HTTP/1.1″ 200 56378 “-” “Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1)”
MSNbot
207.46.199.184 – - [01/Jul/2010:14:31:12 -0400] “GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.1″ 200 34 “-” “msnbot/2.0b (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)”
See the difference. MSN first gets the robots.txt file to see where it can go and where it can’t and it list that it is a bot (msnbot/2.0b). Cyveillance covered that up.
The referring link to the website was from Google. It showed that Cyveillance found my site and the post by searching in Google “momversus.com/2010/07/02/pyramid/”. Do the search yourself it comes back with one result and that is to my twitter listing, it doesn’t list it directly to my website. I checked Google cache to see when it was indexed. They didn’t even index the twitter post about the pyramid page until 18:54 GMT which is 14:54 EST which is the time zone for my logs.
With all that how did Cyveillance come across my post at 13:09 EST from Google when Google didn’t even have it listed until 1 hour 45 minutes later? Why would Cyveillance be interested at all in a post on aliens/pyramids when by their website they are doing brand protection and no brands were listed that would trigger any alerts for them? How did Cyveillance find my post so quickly when it wasn’t listed anywhere yet but on my site? My site is a whole two months old so not indexed much anywhere right now.
It is crazy that I can’t even write about my kid’s alien fascination without getting a visit from the government. I do not believe it is just a coincidence. I do not believe that some employee of Cyveillance just happen to be on my site or magically came across my post within minutes of it posting.
I am more keen to believe that aliens and pyramids are keywords that trigger inspection. We all know that aliens don’t exist because the government told us so. We all know that Echelon isn’t used to invade privacy or monitor people, it is just looking for terrorist and drug dealers and threats to the governments who use it. Since the government can’t readily use Echelon for this kind of stuff it hires companies like Cyveillance to do its dirty work.
Now I don’t know if there are aliens because I haven’t ever met one that I know of. Is it possible? Well of course it is, come on Earth is the only planet that has life??, please, I am not that arrogant to believe that. Did aliens land at area 51 or was it just a weather balloon like the government said? That is a lot of freaking protection and cover up for a weather balloon crash, that is all I am saying. Are the thousands of people around the world that keep spotting UFOs just crazy? I doubt they all are crazy and just seeing things.
What I do know is that a simple post on aliens and pyramids triggered a visit from the U.S. government’s go to company to keep track of people and information on the internet. That is crazy. I think the government, any government can find better ways to spend taxpayer dollars.
